Lac Seul July 2012

Linda and I spent a week fishing on Lac Seul, a huge, lake system, famous for great fishing. We enjoyed island living at our cabin at Lost Island Lake Lodge, wonderful facilities, nice people and great service.

Lac Seul is huge! 640 sq miles of water, so we had a guide the first full day. Sam helped a lot, since we caught nearly all of our fish in 25 foot reefs off of deep water. Vertical jigging in 25′ required some tricky boat control, but backtrolling the 17′ boat with a 50hp motor into the wind worked fine.

Linda and I had good fishing in a number of good spots. We covered a lot of water!

On the first day, our Guide Sam, put us on the fish the first day and treated us to a great shore lunch on the beach.

We followed a big bear swimming across the lake, saw a deer in moose country, eagles, loons and ducks. Like much of the summer, it was hot and sunny every day. We had great fishing and a wonderful time!

The resort is very nice, cabins are clean and fully equipped. We enjoyed coffee on the cabin deck in the morning and a drink at the end of a long day on the water.

On our drive home, we stopped to enjoy the many beautiful places along the North Shore of Lake Superior. Cascade Falls and Split Rock Lighthouse are spectacular!

We spent the night at the classic old Fitgers Inn along Lake Superior in Duluth. We strolled along the boardwalk to Canal Park to watch the big ships pass under the Aerial Lift Bridge. A great way to end a fun week!
