In May 1998, We ran into a number of challenges on the drive in, but had outstanding fishing! We were “Tim less” without Tim Pelton and Tim Fischer, just Steve, George, Mark C, Mark W, Kendall and Craig.
The road was in tough shape. The washout cut 2′ of crushed rock away from the road, leaving a steep drop. Several trees had fallen over the road over the winter. It took us 4 hours with 6 guys and 2 chain saws to clear the road for the last 4 miles.
The great fishing made it all worthwhile! I landed my largest Walleye (28)” and largest Northern (38″) on the same trip!
