Legendary – this seems to be the best word to describe the fishing on this trip! Four 40″ Northerns of the 20 Northerns over 32″.WOW! Five consecutive days of perfect weather was quite a surprise after the coldest spring in recent memory. Caught Northerns in shallow water, just after ice out. Walleyes were scattered, mostly males, but good fishing. View Slideshow

We welcomed Mark’s Iowa Cunningham cousins John & Jim and John’s sons Zach & Spencer. John fished this lake with Mark and their Dad’s in the mid-1970’s. We also welcomed Steve’s cousin Jeff Westra who has fished the Brightsand Lake area for many years. With Mark Wanous, Andrew Pelton and Jerome Spindler (aka Spin Dog), we had a solid group of 10 guys.

The Cunningham men had outstanding fishing!

Jeff caught some nice fish when he wasn’t untangling his line.

Mark Wanous and I each caught a 40″ Northern.

Jeff, Spencer, Andrew and I caught a lot of 25″-30″ Northerns on Lost Lake. The water is so clear, you can see the Northerns take the spoon in 20′ of water. It was a beautiful day and a gorgeous lake.

Andrew had good fishing, including a double with Dad.

Andrew and I saw a rare Woodland Caribou swimming across the channel and then running thru the burned out area. Very Cool!

The path through the swamp is not getting any better, but the camp setup was just as it should be.

The Pelton clan all dressed the same. The Iowa Cunningham men were great additions to the entire team!
